Interphex 2010

Jacob Javits Center, New York City – Hundreds of customers flocked to Hosokawa’s booth at Interphex eager to meet with engineering and sales staff.
At the show, Hosokawa displayed information on a couple of innovative technologies that sparked much of the customer interest – Active Freeze Drying, Continuous Mixers and the Alpine Picoline. Hosokawa’s Active Freeze Drying technology offers superior product control and eliminates manually handling trays. The new process creates uniform dry granules in shorter process times. Continuous mixers have been in use for many years, but Hosokawa’s new device offers unparalleled homogenization, critical to pharmaceutical ingredients. The Picoline is a series of miniature powder processing devices designed for testing gram size samples with exceptionally high recovery rates.
Other customers showed interest in some of Hosokawa’s most well know applications including contained milling systems. With increasingly stringent federal regulations, operator protection and product integrity concerns are on the rise. Many current drug manufacturers are looking for effective, economical methods to meet these guidelines.
Hosokawa’s rigid isolation units can be custom designed to enclose any pharmaceutical milling equipment, offering operators OEL levels down to 30 nano grams. Hosokawa’s Vitalair Downflow booths and hygienic filling systems were also popular discussions. These devices can be installed in existing operations to reduce dust and protect operators.
Some existing customers discussed their current processes, looking for operation expansion and new product development. During the show, many of Hosokawa’s customers also entered to win an Apple iPod Touch. In a drawing held on April 29th Joseph from Merck in Rahway won the prize.
