Basics of Size Reduction Webinar has a huge turnout

Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems hosted a webinar on the “Basics of Size Reduction – Selecting the best technology for your size reduction needs” that was viewed by nearly 400 industry professionals.  It was the first part of a two part size reduction webinar program that started with coarse to medium particle size reduction and will be continued on June 30th with fine to ultra fine size reduction.

The presentation was given by Rob Voorhees, Vice President and General Manager for Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems. Rob’s extensive experience in the processing industry gives him unique and unmatched knowledge of size reduction equipment. 

In this program, Rob discussed the different methods available for coarse size reduction.  The discussion included the principles of size reduction; shearing, attrition, compression and impact milling. The program presented the importance of knowing your material characteristics, Particle size analysis and several different mills types available on the market. Benefits and disadvantages of each pertaining to a specific applications were discussed.

Most of the viewers surveyed after the presentation gave great reviews and would highly recommend the program to others in processing positions.

Part Two will discuss a variety of technologies available for fine and ultra fine size reduction.   

The Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems Educational Center library has grown to include materials on Active Freeze Drying, Classifying Particles and Media Milling.  The programs are all available online from the Educational Center and can be downloaded and shared with colleagues.
