Active Freeze Drying/Lyophilization Webinar

Nearly one hundred industry professionals from various industries participated in Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems webinar on Active Freeze Drying lead by Dr. Peter van der Wel of the Hosokawa Micron Group.
The program focused on a relatively new technique of agitation during drying to control particle size and drying rate. This process allows particles to be dried without moisture from the material converting into a liquid before evaporating. This protects many properties of the original material and is particularly suitable for drying products that are temperature sensitive, that have delicate cell structures, and have a ultra fine (nano) particle size composition.
The technology has been designed for pharmaceutical and bio-technical applications but has been effectively used in food and chemical processing. Active Freeze Drying, also referred to at lyophilization, typically requires less time, energy and labor then traditional tray freeze drying. The program has been recorded and available in the Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems Educational Center.
