Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems, originally the Pulverizing Machinery Corporation (PMC) was founded in Roselle, New Jersey, in 1923. It was established by two young engineers who met at Stevens Institute of Technology, with the goal of designing and manufacturing a mill with improved performance over the existing technology of the day.

The company’s early innovations included the development of pulverizers, grinders, and mills capable of reducing materials to fine powders. One of PMC’s notable achievements was the invention of the Mikro Pulverizer® Hammer & Screen Mill. This groundbreaking technology revolutionized the field of pulverization by introducing a high-speed mechanical impact mill and set the stage for the development of the Mikro product line.

After the original owner Louis Ruprecht passed away in 1949, the company changed ownership a few times, but the development of new technology never stopped. The next several decades proved to be the years of the most innovation and growth for the company with the introduction of the Mikro-ACM and the invention of the Pulse Jet Dust Collector that today are well-known products worldwide.

With the establishment of the MikroPul Corporation in the 1970’s business exploded. Hosokawa Micron Corporation of Japan had a long relationship with the company and was a licensee for many years until the company became available for sale in 1985. Hosokawa acquired MikroPul in 1985 and under its leadership continues to expand globally and continues the company’s tradition of innovation and introduction of new products.

Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems (HMPS) designs and manufactures the constantly evolving Mikro product line which encompasses a wide range of equipment, including Mikro Pulverizers, Mikro ACM Air Classifying Mills, Mikro UMP Universal Milling Systems, Mikro Atomizer® Air Classifiers, Mikro Air Jet Sieves, and more.

Following the acquisition of what is today called Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems, Hosokawa Micron Corporation, through its acquisition and merger strategy, went on to acquire companies with other core competencies (Hosokawa Alpine Group, Hosokawa Micron BV, Hosokawa Micron Ltd.), allowing Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems to expand its global presence but also to increase its product portfolio with the addition of products with strong brand name recognition to compliment Hosokawa Micron Powder’s expertise. By expanding our offerings to include products of our global subsidiaries and parent company, we can now incorporate mixers, dryers, compactors, containment systems, and analytical equipment into our intricately designed systems. These products serve a wide range of industries and applications, including battery production, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, minerals, food, cosmetics, and plastics.

Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems celebrated their history and success of one hundred years with two events. The first event celebrated our incredible employees and their families. A corporate family fun day took place at the end of August. It is our way of expressing our appreciation for the dedication and hard work of our team, as well as an opportunity to spend quality time with our families. It was a day filled with laughter, games, and unforgettable memories.

The remaining event took place in October, and was dedicated to our sales representatives, senior management, and employees. This event provided exclusive insights into our 100-year journey highlighting our accomplishments and milestones, engaging presentations by key executives highlighting the impact of our representatives in our success story, and a fun night out with live entertainment and an exquisite dining experience.

The presence of everyone at these events not only contribute to the jubilant atmosphere but also served as a testament to the commitment of delivering exceptional products and services, and the enduring relationships Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems have built over the years.
