Mikro ACM® Air Classifying Mill for Toll Processing
Hosokawa’s contract manufacturing air classifying mills are designed to grind chemical and mineral materials down to a D97 < 20 µm with a very narrow particle size distribution. This can be accomplished on an ACM because the mill has an internal classifier to control particle top size and return over sized particles to the grinding zone. Hosokawa’s Mikro ACM® Air Classifying Mill is designed for grinding soft to medium-hard materials with a Moh’s hardness of 4 or less.
Typical size reduction results on the ACM:
- Sodium Bicarbonate: 500 µm feed material – milled down to D97 < 25 µm
- PTFE: 180 µm feed material- milled down to D50: 10 µm and D97: 60 µm
- Lithium Carbonate: D99: 250 µm milled down to D99: 16 µm
Hosokawa has four ACM systems available for toll processing. The 15 ACM system is constructed in stainless steel, which reduces product contamination and is capable of milling up to 200 lbs/hour. The 40 ACM system can be fitted with ceramic internal components to eliminate product contamination and tungsten carbide hammers to grind abrasive and hard materials up to 1,200 lbs/hour. Larger production mills are available for high throughput applications. All of the ACM’s at Hosokawa can produce materials down to D97 < 20 µm or D90 < 10 µm under the right conditions.
