Pet Food
High-quality pet food is increasingly important for pet owners to ensure the wellbeing and longevity of their companions. The production of pet food ingredients is a high-tech process comprising different steps for which high-performance machines and systems are needed – among others from cutting and crushing to grinding and classifying.
As the raw material is derived from natural sources with varying characteristics, it is very important to develop a process that meets the customer’s requirements exactly. Additionally, differences in the target final texture of the food can cause needs for varying types of machinery for customers’ processes. Both dry and wet pet food production require precise processing, however, due to the vast differences in properties and texture, they each call for different kinds of machinery.
In pet food processing, between the initial raw material and the final product are various processing and fine-tuning steps.
Throughout the whole process, pneumatic conveying; storage, charge, & discharge; and dosing & weighing technologies are consistently in demand. On the other hand, technologies such as dry granulation, agglomeration, and wet ingredient pulping are only used on an on demand basis.
Some kinds of technologies are integrated in sequential steps: pre-breaking/cutting, crushing/deagglomeration/coarse grinding, fine grinding, superfine grinding, mixing/blending, and drying/coating.
The process begins with raw material going through pre-breaking/cutting and ends with drying/coating before the final product. The rest of the technologies are either used sequentially in between those steps, constantly during the process, or only used as needed.
