Low Shear Batch Mixing Technology

There are five types of mixing: low shear, mid-shear, high shear, impact, and particle design. Low shear mixing is a gentle, neat, orderly mixing where the particles are slowly moving in an orderly fashion throughout the mixing process. This is perfect for fragile, heat-sensitive, and free-flowing powders. Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems produces many applications that are capable of conducting low shear batch mixing. These include:

Nauta® Conical Screw Mixer

The Nauta Conical Screw Mixer is a low-shear batch mixer capable of mixing up to 100,000 liters of material. It has a cantilevered screw design and can process various chemical, mineral, pharmaceutical, and food materials.

Nauta Vitomix

The Nauta Vitomix is a low-mid shear batch mixer capable of mixing materials at speeds of 0.4 m/s to 6.0 m/s. It is capable of processing various chemical, mineral, pharmaceutical, and food materials.

Nauta Modulomix

The Nauta Modulomix is a continuous modular mixer for low, medium, or high shear mixing. It is designed specifically to process pharmaceuticals.

Micron Labomixer LV

The Micron Labomixer LV is a laboratory scale conical screw mixer designed for the gentle mixing of dry powders.  It is designed to be a laboratory mixer that works similarly to the Nauta® Conical Screw Mixer. It is capable of processing chemical, mineral, food, pharmaceutical, plastic, and cosmetic materials.
