Vrieco-Nauta Horizontal Ribbon Mixer

The Vrieco-Nauta HMC Horizontal Ribbon Mixers with single shaft and the Hosokawa Ribbon blenders RB series with double shaft rotors are especially developed for mixing batches of free flowing and / or cohesive powders with different particle sizes and bulk densities.

The agitator rotates with minimum wall clearance in a U-shaped vessel. The mixing rotor consists of an inner and outer ribbon which effects a counter flow mass movement with random motion in radial and axial directions.

The typical rotation speed is 30 to 150 Rpm depending on the product behaviour in order to insure a quick overall mixing of the entire batch. The Tip speed will be then between 0.5 and 2.5 m/s.

The Hosokawa Ribbon blender series HMC and RB can be used for mixing of:

  • powders with powders
  • powders with liquids

The mixing action in the double ribbon blender RB is created by the following 3 factors:

  • Conveying of product by one ribbon from left to right
  • Counter flow of product by the second ribbon
  • Exchange of product between the two ribbons

Main features of the HMA & RB ribbon mixers

Mixing accuracy: Materials are mixed to the highest level of accuracy, even if some of the components are only present in minor quantities. The Hosokawa ribbon blender is suitable to prepare homogeneous blends with minor components.

Mixing efficiency: A homogene mixture can be achieved in a short period of time due to the rotor configuration. The Hosokawa HMC & RB mixers are able to mix batches in a size from 5 to 25.000 liters.

Fast and full discharge: The bottom outlet in combination with the small rotor wall clearances guarantees a fast and full discharge with a minimum of product remaining.
