Vrieco-Nauta vacuum dryers were developed from the already successful conical screw mixer line. The superior mixing quality of the Vrieco-Nauta mixers is utilized to efficiently present fresh product to the heated surface area aiding in the rapid drying. Heat is transferred into the product through a jacketed vessel wall causing solvents or moisture residues to evaporate. The entire vessel is run under vacuum to further aid in moisture removal by lowering the saturated vapor pressure.
The above mechanisms combined are the most efficient method for drying of temperature sensitive materials, fragile materials, and materials containing solvents. The mixing screw combined with heating through the jacket and the vacuum operation help to ensure; fast drying times, low energy consumption, quick and efficient removal of vapors, full recovery of solvents, and final moisture down to 0.5% after drying.
The design of the Vrieco-Nauta vacuum dryer is such that no static pockets are present within the product area. The conical shape of the vessel allows for quick and complete self-emptying with no product hang-up, which makes the unit easy to clean. The superior mixing quality of the Vrieco-Nauta mixer is utilized to efficiently present fresh product to the heated surface area aiding in the rapid drying.
Vrieco-Nauta vacuum dryers are suitable for final drying of food products such as powders, granules, pastes, and slurries especially when they are brittle and temperature sensitive.
